CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCIES
We have listed various consumer protection agencies first because when it comes to selecting a contractor for your project, there are certain fundamental questions that you should ask in order to protect yourself from unscrupulous, and dishonest contractors. For instance;
Does the contractor hold a valid California state contractors license? Does the contractor hold a Home Improvement Contractor Certification issued by the state of California? Is the contractor insured with adequate liability insurance and workers compensation insurance? Is the contractor bonded? Can you get in touch with the contractor easily, and do you know where you can find him? Do you have his physical address? Does the contractor have any legal judgments against him, or is he in violation of any state legal statutes? Is the contractor associated with any consumer organizations such as the Better Business Bureau that are dedicated to protecting the rights of the consumer?
